Sales Tax Policy

Effective date: August 25, 2026 — currently collecting: Minnesota

How sales tax works here

For orders shipped to states where marketplace facilitator laws apply to us, we (the marketplace, not the seller) calculate, collect, and remit sales tax on the seller's behalf. The amount depends on the item's price (after any coupon discount), whether shipping is taxable in your state, and your ship-to address, which is why we ask for it before payment. If tax applies to your order, it appears as its own line at checkout.

Which states

Minnesota is active — as a Minnesota-based marketplace we collect sales tax on orders shipped to Minnesota buyers. Most other U.S. states treat marketplaces like this one as responsible for collecting tax on sales they facilitate once the marketplace crosses that state's economic threshold (typically around $100,000 in sales into the state, all sellers combined); we activate collection state by state as those registrations come online, and this page reflects the current list. Until a state is active, no tax is added to orders shipped there.

If we don't collect

Where we don't collect sales tax (for example, a state we're not yet registered in), you may still owe use tax on your purchase directly to your state or local tax authority. Many states include a use-tax line on their income tax returns for exactly this. We can't advise on your specific tax obligations, consult a tax advisor if unsure.

International orders (import duties & VAT)

Orders shipped outside the United States (currently Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the EU) are sold with import duties and taxes unpaid: the shipping carrier collects import VAT/GST, customs duties, and typically a small handling fee from you, the buyer, when the package arrives. Those amounts are set by your country's customs rules and are not included in the price, shipping, or anything you pay us at checkout. You are the importer of record for your purchase.

If a package is refused and returned because duties went unpaid, the return shipping cost is deducted from the refund. Buyers in a country not listed above can browse and save items, but checkout only ships to the countries we currently support.

Tax-exempt buyers

Buying for resale or otherwise tax-exempt? Contact [email protected] with your exemption certificate before ordering and we'll handle it manually, refunds of tax collected in error are processed back to your original payment method.

Refunds

If an order is refunded, the sales tax collected on it is refunded with it and netted out of what we remit for that period.
